Come to the Lower Windsor Township Gymnasium on Tuesday nights for
basketball against your peers! You must be at least 30 years of age to play
basketball on this night. Pick-up games will start after everyone has a
chance to warm up. Bring your own ball if you wish.
Indoor Volleyball
Wednesdays, January 6 thru April 28; 8–10 p.m.
Location: Lower Windsor Township Gymnasium

Age: 16 and up
Come to the Lower Windsor Township Building for Co-ed Indoor Volleyball!
This is completely recreational, so come by yourself or bring your friends
for pick-up games. Based on the number of participants, players will be
divided into four teams. Bring your own ball if you wish.
Rocks, Ridges, Caves & Curiosities on the Susquehanna with Jerry Jones
Evening Rendezvous

Cost: $40 per person
Did you know there are still unanswered questions about the formation of
the lower Susquehanna gorge? Why are there is such unusual varieties of rock
here. How did the Martic Line and local cave formations come about? With the
help of visual aids, local geologist Jerry Jones will take us on an
exploration of our unique area and give us a new appreciation of this river
we explore each season. Program includes Jerry’s presentation plus a
delicious dinner in “The Rookery”.
Moonlight Dining, Music, and Wine
Evening Rendezvous

Join us for this very special evening with Shank’s Mare and Moon Dancer
Winery. Begin the night at Shank’s Mare’s The Rookery with hors d’oeuvres
and a wine tasting hosted by Winemaker, Jim Miller. Then, relax and enjoy a
delicious dinner, a complimentary glass of wine, and the spectacular view of
the Susquehanna River as the moon rises over the Flats. Following your meal,
you’ll head to Moon Dancer Winery for live music to complete the evening.
This is a great night to enjoy with friends. Get a group together and

Introduction to Geocaching
Saturday, February 13; 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare
Cost: FREE
Learn about the sport of “geocaching” at Shank’s Mare. This high tech
scavenger hunt activity incorporates information from the web, with map and
compass skills and a hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) computer.
“Team Shank’s Mare” has been enjoying this sport and we want to share the
fun with you. This clinic will familiarize you with the principles of
geocaching. We’ll head outdoors to practice finding some “caches”. Once you
get the hang of this, go out on your own or join us for some of our
“Geocaching Rendezvous” where you’ll form teams and navigate our own cache
course followed by dinner in “The Rookery”. We’ll supply the materials for
this clinic.
Winter Waterfowl on the Susquehanna
Sunday, February 21; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare
Cost: FREE
With the help of representatives from York County Parks, join us for an
afternoon hike in search of the waterfowl that winter on the Susquehanna.
We’ll get a preview of birding guides, binoculars, and spotting scopes, and
talk about the winter waterfowl that inhabit our area, as well as show us
descriptive information on how to spot these birds. Then we’ll head outside
for a leisurely walk along the River to spot the migratory birds that
frequent our area this time of year. Who knows what we’ll see. Bring
binoculars and field guides. Hike refreshments and lunch available at Lock 2
Café.
Life on the Susquehanna-Tidewater Canal with Stephen Runkle
Evening Rendezvous
Friday, March 5; 6:00pm
Location: Shank’s Mare
Cost: $40 per person
Back by popular demand! Steve Runkle will take us on a trip down the
Susquehanna-Tidewater Canal with pictures, music and dialog. Steve’s
presentation brings the canal to life as you enjoy dinner in “The Rookery”
at Shank’s Mare – a real-life canal general store. Don’t miss this
delightful evening that includes this excellent presentation and dinner.
2010 Basketball League Information
• EYARC Basketball League is a recreation league for men 18 years of age
and older.
• The first 11 teams to register will be guaranteed a place in the league.
We will not accept any additional teams after the first 11 spots are filled.
No exceptions!
• Teams are limited to 12 players.
• All teams must have a team captain.
• All games are officiated by PIAA officials.
• Cost is a non-refundable fee of $55 per player.
• The league is held on Sundays from February 21 through June 6. This
includes play-offs and championships. The league will not run on April 4,
May 9 or May 30.
• Games start at 1 p.m.
• All teams are required to work a minimum of 5 games.
• Unsportsmanlike conduct is not tolerated. There is a No Tolerance Policy
in this league.
• Registration Deadline is January 20, 2010.

Learn Tai Chi – FREE!!

This free opportunity is available for the public to view and participate in
the practices of Tai Chi. Participants will also learn about the history and

That’s rights…Line Dancing is back and it’s just as fun as you remember!
Let’s work up a sweat with this great way to exercise. Learn new dances and
review some of you old favorites like Tush Push, Chattahoochee and the
Marcarena. Easy step by step instructions will be given for beginners and
partners are not necessary. This is a fitness class, so wear comfortable
clothes and sneakers.
Swing Dance Class for Beginners

The Susquehanna Area Senior Center is hosting a Sweetheart Dinner
and Dance on Friday, February 19th. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the
dance will start at 7 p.m. In the case of inclement weather, the dance will
be rescheduled for March 5th. For more information on this event, contact
