SPORTS CARD


If you participate in our evening sports programs (Monday through Wednesday), you can now purchase a sports card and pay for the session in this brochure upfront so that you don’t have to carry change with you each week! Plus…by purchasing a card, you get one evening free! Sports card fees are listed below. They must be presented at sign-in each night of the sport you are attending. Sports cards are priced based on the individual sport. Cards will be sold at sign-in or you can call EYARC and purchase one over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard and we will have it for you at the next sign-in.


Men’s Pick-up Basketball
Tuesdays, September 2 through December 22; 7–9 p.m.

Come to the Lower Windsor Township Building for Co-ed Volleyball! This is completely recreational, so come by yourself or bring your friends for pick-up games. Based on the number of participants, players will be divided into four teams.

Yoga in the Park

Join fitness instructor Barb Riley and come enjoy the outdoors and make new friendships! We will start our day with a 30 to 40 minute walk at your own pace along the walking path at Rexroth Park only to come back and enjoy a relaxing flowing yoga practice. Walkers and yoga practitioners alike can learn from focusing on the breath and finding joy in the process. No experience necessary, we will leave no one behind. Please bring a yoga mat, block, towel, and pedometer (optional) with you to class. Water will be supplied.

Sunday Brunch Paddle Rendezvous
Sunday, September 7; 9-11:30 a.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare

Begin your Sunday morning enjoying the natural beauty of the Susquehanna River! This rendezvous begins with a short orientation to kayaking. Paddlers then launch their kayaks for a leisurely paddle to the Conejohela Flats. This area of the Susquehanna River is a major migratory bird stopover on the Atlantic flyway, so you’re sure to see a variety of wildlife. The paddle is suitable for beginners and kayak rentals are available ($15/single kayak, $18/double kayak). Following the tour, adjourn to “The Rookery” for a hearty brunch. Program includes tour, guide and meal.

Open Gym Basketball
Mondays, September 8 through December 22; 7:30–9:30 p.m.

“Shape Up” for the Holidays

This is an organized 8 week weight loss program managed by experienced trainers and combines exercise, nutrition, motivation and guidance. Cost includes confidential weekly weigh-ins, 1 on 1 nutrition, guidance, circuit training, challenges, 1 on 1 work out plan designed for individual needs, weekly motivational contact. Plus…includes full use of club and unlimited group fitness classes!

Paddle, Dine, Music & Wine
Saturday, September 13; 3 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare

Plan to spend an enjoyable late afternoon and evening on the river with Shank’s Mare! Begin your outing with a leisurely kayak tour on the Susquehanna. The guides will lead you to some favorite spots on the river as you enjoy the late afternoon sun. Following your paddle, enjoy a delicious light fare dinner in “The Rookery” at Shank’s Mare. To top off your evening, head to Moon Dancer Winery for their summer concert series of live music beginning at 7 p.m. It’s a great way to enjoy the warmth of summer and a balmy evening on the Susquehanna. Fee includes guide, tour and dinner. Concert Tickets are available at Moon Dancer Winery the evening of the tour. Kayak rentals are available ($15/single kayak, $20/double kayak.


BodyStep

BodyStep is an all system go step workout. Compelling fitness that tones the legs, improves coordination, bone density, posture and agility. It adds fun and athletic movements to the mix with huge amount of personality, driving music and great training principles. Kickboxing Session

Join instructor Lisa Strong for an hour of tae-bo-like kickboxing. You will shed the pounds and tone muscle. You choose the intensity of your workout. An easy warm-up leads into a cardio-toning workout to great music and fun moves. Please bring a floor mat for a relaxing cool-down and abdominal exercises and a water bottle.
 

Ballroom Dancing

Join instructor Fran Spangler for an 8 week session of fun dance lessons! Learn the 6 elements of Ballroom Dancing, put them all together and you can be dancing the dances as seen on “Dancing with the Stars”, such as Swing; Cha Cha; Rumba; Foxtrot; Waltz; Merengue; and Tango! All you need are your dance shoes, a smooth leather sole will do. Bring your significant other or just a friend. Dancing lasts a lifetime!

Tai Chi – Fall Session

If so, then join instructor Suzanne Martin as she teaches you the health rejuvenation benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong as practiced around the world. This class can be as physically challenging as you make it, and gentle enough to be practiced by older adults and those recovering from physical illness and injury. For participants who are more advanced, you will continue your studies with a more in-depth knowledge of the session (only with the instructor’s approval), and continue until 8:45 p.m. If you would like to see if you would like Tai Chi before registering, there will be a FREE Tai Chi class on September 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall.

BodyPump

BodyPump is a strength endurance training class where muscles and music collide! Low on complexity but high in fun, BodyPump has all of the benefits of traditional weight training combined with time efficiency and predictability. If you want to burn calories, increase metabolism, muscle tone and bone density this is the class for you. BodyPump is great for everyone at every fitness level. This is the cardio workout where you are free to enjoy the sensation of dance. An addictive fusion of the latest dance styles and hottest new sounds puts the emphasis on having fun as much as breaking a sweat. Funky instructors teach you to move with attitude through this 55 minute class.

BodyCombat

This is a workout with a punch. It is a high-energy cardiovascular training class that combines moves from a wide range of martial arts disciplines. BodyCombat allows you to punch and kick your way to increase fitness levels. The class improves fat burning potential, muscle coordination, strength, flexibility and agility. BodyCombat is suitable for anyone who wants a great workout white having fun.

RPM

Experience the ride of your life! RPM is a fun, athletic, cardiovascular workout that kills calories in record time – up to 600 in a single ride. It provides lightening quick improvement in endurance as well as a fast boost of lower body strength as you experience different terrains, speeds and intensities. RPM caters to all exercisers, from beginners to advance, because individuals can adjust the resistance and regulate the speed.

Around the Island Evening Rendezvous
Saturday, September 20; 3 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare

For Kayakers who would like to take a longer paddle and explore the islands, here you go! Our guides will lead you to the Conejohela Flats to explore the islands directly across from Shank’s Mare. There should be plenty of wildlife to spot this time of the year, and the late summer sun should provide some spectacular views for us. Following your paddle tour, adjourn the “The Rookery” for an early evening dinner. This paddle is about 4 miles + round trip, so paddles should be prepared for the trip. Fee includes guide, tour, and dinner. Kayak rentals are available ($15/single kayak, $20/double kayak).

Vineyard Hike & Mulled Wine
Saturday, October 4 and November 8; 11-2 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare
Cost: $30/person

Meet at Moon Dancer Winery and join Shank’s Mare as we take a hike through the vineyards. Enjoy beautiful countryside and Susquehanna River views as we make our way through the rows of grapevines. We’ll have a hearty lunch with mulled wine by a campfire along the trail, and wrap up our outing with wine tasting back at Moon Dancer and a sneak peak to check the progress of the wines maturing in the cellars. Fee includes hike/tour, lunch and wine tasting.

Introduction to Geocaching
Saturday, October 25; 10:30-12:30 p.m.
Location: Shank’s Mare

Learn about the new sport of “geocaching” at Shank’s Mare. This worldwide scavenger hunt type activity incorporates information from the worldwide web, with map and compass skills and utilizing a hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) computer. “Team Shank’s Mare” has been enjoying this sport and we want to share the fun with you. This clinic will familiarize you with the principles of geocaching, and we’ll practice finding some “caches”. Materials are supplied through Shank’s Mare.

Sundays, February 1 through May 17 (no play April 12); 12-6 p.m.
Location: Lower Windsor Township Gymnasium

Registration Deadline: 1/15/09

Recreational league play starts in February and runs a total of 14 weeks, ending in May. This schedule includes play-offs and the championship games. A minimum of 8 players is needed for a team, maximum of 10. You may create your own team. Extra players will be added as needed. T-shirts are included. Registrations received after the deadline will be charged a $15 late fee.
You may register your entire team over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard.

Are you stressed-out or tense? Do you have a chronic condition such as low back pain? We can help you! Certified Massage Therapist, Tiffany Holmes, gives deep tissue massages designed to relieve tension and feel wonderful. Massage is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs.
