Join us for a special guided historical tour of Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. After the tour, participants will stop to have lunch at Old Country Buffet. There are only 25 seats available for this trip, so register early! Fee includes: bus transportation, the guided tour and lunch.

History of the Hanover Junction Train Station

Hanover Junction was a busy place in the 1860’s. This station was raided prior to the Battle of Gettysburg. It is also famous for Abraham Lincoln visiting the stations several times. A tour of the station will be first on the agenda, followed by a 2 mile hike along the rail trail observing the fall foliage, watching for wildlife and hearing about local history. Fee includes transportation and tour guide, Jeri Jones.

Are you looking for a getaway that will rekindle the old fashioned Christmas spirit? Then plan to join us in Wellsboro on Saturday, December 4 as we take a step back in time and celebrate the community's 27th Annual "Dickens of a Christmas". Wellsboro's Main Street and the surrounding side streets will be closed to traffic and will become an early Victorian marketplace featuring all types of delectable wares for eating and drinking, as well as delightful gift items for wearing or enjoying. Food and craft vendors, strolling musicians and singers, dancers, and street-corner thespians will spread up and down Main Street. Performers and vendors will be appropriately costumed and decorated to create a Victorian atmosphere that fits so well with the Wellsboro Gas Lights. With streets closed to traffic, you have the freedom to stroll and enjoy the festivities. Many of the local churches will host luncheons, concerts, tours or special services throughout the day.
